42' 1977 BERTRAM 42 MOTORYACHT OVERVIEW
Directly from the 1977 Bertram 42 Motoryacht brochure...
She is uncommonly spacious and luxurious. But that is not why you should own her. She is a Bertram. A great sea boat. As beautiful as she is, inside and out, a Bertram is built for more important reasons. To take you safely, swiftly and softly across more kinds of seas, in more kinds of weather than anything in her class.
We will not pontificate on the hundreds of construction features that separate this yacht from lesser names. She is simply all Bertram. And that says enough to any seasoned skipper or captain or yard mechanic or charterer or commodore in half the harbors around the world.
Her lines hold a greyhound grace through heavy swells or resting quietly at dockside. Yet that lean look is not at the expense of headroom or control visibility or window area.
The aft deck cocktails eight to ten without getting outrageously cozy. The foredeck has a built-in lounge that stretches nine feet across. The flybridge seats six without restricting the skipper. Her gleaming white exterior is gelcoat. Bonded in, not painted on. She'll look good for years with minimum care.
An all teak veneer salon interior provides a warm, roomy atmosphere accenting much more than a mere home away from home. Beyond the elegance of her decor lies a marvel of space planning belowdecks.
By placing the entry to the guest cabin fully to starboard, we added 50% more galley and created true corridored privacy forward.
By using a slight step-down, on Island divider and sleek hand rail, we made the salon and galley separate, but equally open to air and light. The island divider features a spacious cabinet overhead with enough room below to store a dining table and four folding chairs. A handsome convetible sofa is also standard with room for two comfy lounge chairs and cocktail table, available options.
The oversize galley comes complete with full-sized refrigerator/freezer, three burner range with exhaust fan, oven, twin stainless steel sinks dishracks and glassracks and pantries and drawers galore end even a hidden drop stowage for bar items.
More space! The owner's stateroom takes full advantage of her 14-foot-plus beam, holds oversized beds with 48" wide dresser and mirror between. Two hanging lockers and bunk stowage for extended cruising. The master head features a large shower and more mirrored luxury. Throughout, the draperies and covers are all custom fitted by our own upholstery shop.
The guest cabin also has exceptional size and is corridored for exceptional privacy. Two lockers with wardrobe, private head with shower and 6'5" V-berths add up to a lot of comfort for passengers or crew.
On-deck living is as comfortable as below. With options like an aft deck wet bar and ice maker, carpeting swim platform and ladder. To enhance any mood, a stereo tape deck with speakers throughout is also available.
Her exceptional space plan really only hints at how totally she is dedicated to the comfort and enjoyment of owner and quests. Once you actually get aboard and below, the full impact hits you... of beds you can rally stretch out on and sink into heads you can honestly stand tall in, drawers you can really store tons in.
