Her designer, W.I.B. Crealock, has utilized a modern split keel and skeg rudder underbody. Chosen by veteran solo racer David White, the "Crealock 37", racing against larger boats, finished second, logging 2,482 miles - an average speed of 6.76 knots for 15 days straight
The PS 37 is capable of carrying her skipper and crew across any sea with safety and in splendid comfort. Moreover, she can do so with a swiftness that has heretofore been the exclusive realm of the ocean racer. The Crealock 37’s design, construction and attention to detail make her a yacht appreciated and owned by sailors with years of experience and many blue water miles behind them.
In essence Bill Crealock built the 37 for himself. In his words: "I did not have to pay homage to interiors festooned with bunks, or revered classic features, or long waterlines or short or distorted ends. The 37 is an attempt to provide the cruiser with a boat which will travel fast between ports under complete control, and which will yet remind him that the passage itself should be one of the pleasures of the cruise."
